Abby had her test for yellow belt last night and she did great!! She was so tired afterwards because the test didn't start until 7:30 and by the time we were all done and got home it was 9:00- way past her bedtime.

A new uniform
I've been in the Navy for 8 years now and they have recently added a totally new uniform to our seabag. It is called the Navy Working Uniform and is basically blue digital camouflage. I had to look around to find some good boots - I prefer Bates brand but the ones they have in the uniform stores were a different brand and not nearly as comfortable- government contracts at work. Luckily, I found the ones I wanted. So, here I am before heading off to work in my NWU for the first time.

It is actually pretty comfortable. I am trying to get the boots broken in before I am on the ship and wearing them all day, every day.

Baby Bunny Heaven
Sadly, the baby bunnies didn't make it. We waited for the mom to come back, but we don't know if she ever did. Every time we checked she wasn't there. Our neighbors were probably wondering what we were looking at all the time, especially once it was dark and we were out with a flashlight! This morning we found one bunny pulled out again and he was very weak. We don't know if he had crawled out of the burrow or was pulled out. We thought maybe she had to pull them out to nurse, but they never looked like they were getting any stronger.
Around 11 we took them to the vet to see if we could get some bunny formula to try to help them pull through, but by the time we made it there they had passed away. The vet said that she thought that they were old enough to be on their own because they didn't have a white mark on the top of their head anymore but they were very frail. She also said that of all the wild animals that rabbits are some of the hardest to try to nurse back to health once they have been abandoned.
The girls drew a pictures for them and we had a bunny funeral
This is a picture of the bunnies the day before they passed.

Mushroom epidemic
We have had a recent mushroom outbreak in our yard. It started out as just a couple and Q picked them very carefully so as not to spread the spores all around. Then the next day there were more, and we picked those and more grew in their place until we went out and picked this whole bag full at once. Thankfully that was pretty much the end of the mushrooms!
We play in the yard way too much to have to share it with some fungus!!

Going' to the lodge.....
We went to Great Wolf Lodge again and it was nice to be only about an hour away instead of the 3 hrs we used to drive from Annapolis. The girls had a great time and we stayed in the water more this time than we ever have before. The second day Adrianna was pretty tired and said" Bye-bye water" when she had had enough!

Trip to the Outer Banks
One thing we have grown to appreciate about living on the East Coast is that you can drive for a couple of hours, if not less, and be in a different state. We took a trip down to the Outer Banks and stayed in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The first day we visited the Wright Brother's National Park and saw where they launched their first four successful flight attempts from. Those are the numbered rocks that Abby is standing by. On the way back to the hotel we stopped and played some putt-putt. Both Abby and I made a hole- in- one, but Quintin was the overall winner. Adrianna had a little plastic club, but lost interest with that and just liked throwing her ball into the hole.

The hotel room was very nice- with a great view of the ocean. We had grand plans to get up and watch the sunrise together and we did, only with a little one joining us as well because Adrianna woke up too!

The weather was cloudy, but still great for the beach. This was Adrianna's first time going to the beach and she loved it. At first she was shocked when she had sand all over her feet, but she got used to it and later was trying to get it to stick to her arms! We buried Abby in the sand and made her a cute mermaid tail! We let her do most of her swimming in the indoor pool because she gets so cold when she gets wet, but before we left she ran out and played in the ocean for a while. She got knocked over by some strong waves but got right back up with her little boogie-board to go at it again!

This next picture was taken by Abigail. We were trying to get a shot of just the two of us, but Adri kept creeping in!

Here we are getting ready to head home- all showered and with only about 30% of the sand still on us! It is so hard to get rid of all that sand after you go to the beach!

On the way home we stopped by a roadside farmer's market- Don't those peaches look great?
