Happy Memorial Day

We just hope that everyone is having a safe and fun holiday. We almost had a near death experience when we walked into Foley's (just bought out by Macy's) and found that they had their entire houseware department 60 to 75% off. Needless to say, we stocked up. The hardest part was having to carry all of the stuff on only one good leg.

Letter Game. I got "M".

The object of the game is to come up with 10 words that start with your letter and explain why. If you want to play and don't have a letter I'll be happy to give you one just leave me a message. Anna gave me my letter.

Mother: Being a mother is the most important job I have. I love every minute of it. I thank my own Mother, even though she passed away when I was a child, for teaching me to never take anything for granted and cherish every moment you have with your children. They truly are a gift from God.

Man of my dreams: I am so lucky to have found him early in my life (we are high school sweethearts), and I wouldn't trade him for anything. He is also the best Dad in the world. He gets bonus points for being a stay-at-home Daddy for Abigail. What a lucky little girl!

Magnum: We have a 2005 Dodge Magnum and it is the coolest car we have ever owned. It is nice to have a car that both you and your husband like.

Manning the rails: I love seeing a ship pass by with all of the sailors standing topside. This is usually done when you leave and return from deployment. It is a very emotional time- you are heartbroken when you have to leave your family and you keep your eyes on them for as long as you can, but when you come home there is nothing like finding their face in the crowd.

Movies: Any genre, any location.... love to watch 'em.

Music: My favorite kind is R&B, hip-hop, and pop. We listen to music all the time at home. Abby is the best dancer in our family :) My favorite song right now is Over My Head(Cable Car) by The Fray.

Marathon relays: Ran one last weekend and had a blast. The real thing is too much for me, but this was just enough to feel the energy of competing in a race. It is also cool because you know that you aren't going to win and you won't finish last, so there isn't any pressure. You can just enjoy the run....unless it is 90 degrees, then you enjoy the people that squirt you with waterhoses as you pass by!

Mornings: I am not a night-owl by any means. Mornings are definately for me. I love breakfast food, especially french toast- yummy. I also like the smell of morning breath- not mine or Quintin's, but Abigail's. She isn't old enough yet to have bad breath, so it smells really sweet.

Maryland: That is where we are moving to this summer and are really excited. We will have four seasons! Imagine the concept. We are also looking forward to all of the great roadtrips. Definately going to take advantage of the location.

Malls: Need I say more?

Sweet Ride!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh I just found my dream car. We were driving back from the park and we saw this sweet car. I begged Janice to let me ask the guy how much he wanted for the car but she said no more toys for me. I did ask the guy if he liked his car and he said yeah the chicks dig it. What a loser.

Beep, Beep!

We took Abby to the Go Kart tracks on Sunday and we had a great time. Abigail's favorite thing was driving the go-karts. We did experience playing the worst miniature golf course ever. There were no special wind mills, hills, bridges, not even a zig zag course.

Go, Mommy, Go!

Janice ran in a marathon relay (Beach to Bay) this past Saturday and ran 4.4 miles in less than a 9 minute-mile average. Not too bad considering it was about 90 degrees outside. Janice was really smokin' the other runners. Abigail and I didn't get to see Janice cross the finish line because parking was insane. :( We did get to cheer her on while she was running when we drove by.

Misdiagnosis

It has now been three months since Quintin first injured his ankle. A couple of days ago, when he finally was able to see an orthopedic specialist, he found out that he didn't have a high ankle sprain as he was first told, but rather a ruptured achilles!! No wonder he has been in so much pain. The ususal treatment for this would be surgery, but since it has been so long, it has started to heal on its own (lucky for us it is healing straight). Now, Quintin has to wear this boot that goes all the way up to his knee for 6-12 months and he goes to physical therapy twice a week. I don't know how he keeps up with Abigail, especially when I was gone for 2 weeks. What a super Daddy!!!

Little Helper

On Friday afternoon I re-injured my ankle and this time it is for the worse. I have to stay on my crutches (both of them) and off my foot for 6 to 8 weeks.
Even though I am injured the house still needs to remain clean and tidy because we are in the process of selling our home. You can't have people come over to see your house and have it be all messy. We have a very active 2 year old, and you know how quickly they can make the house look like a tornado.
Abigail helped me clean up. She gets really excited when it is time to vacuum. She hands me things that she thinks I can't reach. She is just too cute.

Off to Panama City

On friday Janice left to go to Florida for 2 weeks for her job in the Navy. Janice is taking part in a training exercise off the coast of Panama City, Florida. Abigail and I are sad to see her go but atleast we get to watch whatever we want on t.v. We will be counting the days down until she returns.

Secret to weight loss

People want to know how Janice lost so much weight......and might I say she is looking mighty fine myself. The reason is because everytime we go out to eat Abigail never lets her eat, so I am stuck having to eat everyone's food. So, all the weight she is losing I am gaining, but everyone knows that I am sexual chocalate so it doesn't matter.
Abigail likes to play "I've got your nose" but she doesn't know how to hide your nose so she just throws it and does it over and over. She is so funny!

Hip Hip Hooray! Someone went pee-pee in the potty today!

Today Abigail decided that she wanted to use the potty, and she insisted on having her privacy. So, as I waited outside of the bathroom door, I heard little one using the potty. I was excited because the first time she used the potty and went pee-pee it scared her and she didn't want to use the potty for a while. This time she was so happy and proud of herself that she said, "Dad look." I went into the bathroom and there was pee-pee in the potty. I told her that I was proud of her and how big she is for using the potty. She was pleased with herself and she had me look at her potty for about two minutes and then she wanted to sit on the potty again. She was trying to show me that she might have something left in her tank, so she sat down and let out a little fart. That's my daughter, just like her Daddy!! I saved the pee-pee for Janice so that she could see it when she got home. Janice was more excited than Abigail about the potty, and that made Abigail feel really good, so she gave Janice a big hug.

Sam I Am wouldn't even eat my eggs...

Today for breakfast I decided to make Abigail some eggs. I have to admit that I am not the greatest cook in the world but there are certain things that I feel confident about making and serving. Ramen noodles, cold cereal, hot cereal, peanut butter and jelly and scrambled eggs. I cooked the eggs and they went from slimy to sticky to slimy again. Needless to say Abigail and I went out to breakfast.

Lookie Loo, Guess Who's Two?

Abigail turned two years old today and had a fabulous Scooby-Doo party! I decorated last night while she was asleep, so when she woke up this morning she was really surprised. She kept saying, "Look Mommy...Look Daddy... Scooby-Doo... Balloons!" She was really excited.
I'm not sure how Abby got to be so into Scooby-Doo, but it is all about him right
now. She knows the names of the whole Mystery Inc. Gang, and besides Scooby, Velma is her favorite.
She did a great job blowing out the candles, and we had to light them about three times while we were singing because she kept blowing them out before we got to the end of the song, so she got more than her share of wishes today!

We also went to Sears and took some pictures for her birthday. They came out so cute. We have to wait about a week to get most of the pictures, but we did
get to take home the collages we ordered, since those are digital. I can't believe that she is two already- time is passing way too quickly.

Carousel

Yesterday we were at the mall and Janice and Abigail road the carousel. I didn't ride because I get motion sick when riding that thing.

Run-in with the Po-Po's

It has been a while since we have had a really bad day, but today took the cake. It started off great because it was a Friday, which means a half day for me at work. Quintin and Abby were on their way to see me at around 10 this morning when Quintin called me and told me he got pulled over on base for speeding. No big deal really.... on base if you get a ticket they just give you citations on your base record, and if you get 12 in one year, then you lose your base driving privileges.
So, I wait a little while and then he calls me back to see if I can call our insurance and have them fax a current copy of our insurance card to me. I had forgotten to put the new card in the car at the end of last month. Still I am thinking that it wasn't going to be much of an issue- they would just give him a ticket and he would be on his way. So about 15 minutes go by and I haven't heard from him, so I call him and he said they had him out of the car and were acting like they were going to arrest him.
The crazy thing about all of this is that it is all taking place in the parking lot of the building where I work. So I run down there, new insurance card in hand, and I arrive just in time to find the base cop scraping the base sticker on our car. Turns out that he was trying to give Quintin a ticket for speeding, not having insurance, and driving without a seatbelt. The speeding and insurance part were his fault, but the seatbelt- that is where this story gets crazy. Quintin and I always wear our seatlbelts- no matter what. This cop says that as Quintin was pulling to a stop in the parking lot, (mind you this was as he was being pulled over) and the cop saw him "gesture" and remove his seatbelt before he came to a complete stop. Quintin did this so he could reach across into the glove compartment to get all the info. So, because he was technically operating a motor vehicle without wearing his seatbelt (his words, not mine), he was going to give Quintin a third ticket!
After a much heated discussion between me, Quintin, the cop, and his supervisor, the cop decides to drop all the tickets except the speeding. I'm not sure if me telling him that I knew the Executive Officer of the base and I was going to call him to complain had anything to do with it or not! :) Quintin can also be pretty convincing when he gets mad. I think the funniest part about the whole thing was the cop saying that the reason he made Quintin get out of the car was because when he told Quintin that he was giving him a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt, he said, "That's B.S." Now, I am not just abbreviating that to keep this PG, that is what Quintin really said. Believe it or not those words made the cop feel threatened! Give me a break!
When I got back to my office I was telling people what happened and it turns out that this guy has a record for being out of control. Someone else had a run in with him about a week ago and had all of his tickets dropped too. Then, come to find out this guy isn't even a Master at Arms (real military police), but he is a Boatswain's Mate. Apparently he just wanted to try to flex some muscle.....but Quintin out flexed him!
The good thing is that since this morning was such a bummer, the rest of the weekend has to be great. Especially since Abby turns 2 on Sunday and we are having a Scooby-Doo party! Yeah!

Here is a photo of us last year in California. This is a mosaic photo with all of the pictures that we took of our family that year.
