Movie night in the backyard

Tonight we had movie night in the backyard again and it was great. We watched Night at the Museum- one of our all-time favorite family movies. The screen worked well at keeping out all the bugs but our popcorn got a little burned so we had to improvise with our snacks!

First day of Kindergarten

We dropped Abby of at Kindergarten this morning- in the midst of a big rainstorm. We thought about changing her outfit, but it isn't cold- just really wet. We opted for an extra sweater in her backpack in case she gets cold but doesn't want to wear her rain jacket in class. We got there early to make sure we could get a parking spot and not have to walk too far in the rain. When the weather is nice Q will probably just walk her to school because we live so close.

She looked so cute this morning and was ready to start her day. She wanted her hair in a bun, which was very appropriate for the day- and weather when your hair is curly!! I thought I was going to cry a little when we dropped her off, but I held it together!! Can't wait to hear how her day went when we pick her up this afternoon!!

Kindergarten Orientation

Here are a couple of pictures from Abby's orientation last Thursday. She had a great time and is really excited to start tomorrow!!

Yellow belt? No problem!!

Abby had her test for yellow belt last night and she did great!! She was so tired afterwards because the test didn't start until 7:30 and by the time we were all done and got home it was 9:00- way past her bedtime.

A new uniform

I've been in the Navy for 8 years now and they have recently added a totally new uniform to our seabag. It is called the Navy Working Uniform and is basically blue digital camouflage. I had to look around to find some good boots - I prefer Bates brand but the ones they have in the uniform stores were a different brand and not nearly as comfortable- government contracts at work. Luckily, I found the ones I wanted. So, here I am before heading off to work in my NWU for the first time.



It is actually pretty comfortable. I am trying to get the boots broken in before I am on the ship and wearing them all day, every day.
